Type O Negative, formed in 1989, led by Peter Steele, blended gothic and metal. Hits like "Black No. 1" and "Love You to Death" gained worldwide success. They won a Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for Best Debut Album in 1991. Fun fact: Steele was 6'7" tall!
