The Meters
The Meters, pioneers of funk music, formed in 1965 in New Orleans. Their hits include "Cissy Strut" and "Sophisticated Cissy." Their first album dropped in 1969, last in 1977. The band has won a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Did you know they were the house band for Allen Toussaint's studio?
